Most of us buy a home router, set a password that would make even our childhood pets proud, and assume we are safe from the digital riff-raff. But what if your router had left the back window open, complete with a neon 'Welcome' sign? That is exactly what is happening with some of Tenda’s budget routers and smart cameras. Hidden away in their setup is a secret door, a master key that lets just about anyone waltz past your carefully crafted login and take over your home network, no matter how many special characters you used. In this edition, we will have a nosey around to see how this flaw was discovered, why your password might be little more than decoration, and why that bargain router could be costing you more privacy than you ever expected.
